Designed for Love

We and all visible and invisible occupants of the universe were designed for love, that quality by which one intelligently chooses to benefit another, unconditionally. Like faith, it is not blind to the failures and shortcomings of its recipient.

Every living thing was created to benefit others, as is evident in nature. Roses stop being roses when they start choosing who to delight with beauty they do not own. Even when living things die, they naturally become nutrient for other living beings. The sun exists to benefit not itself but other created things.

I am not more godly than when I love and I am not more wicked than when I withhold love through hatred, selfishness, unforgiveness. When I stop the flow of Love through me, I shut myself against God’s life, and corruption sets in. When we step out of Love even for seemingly legitimate reasons, the miracles designed into our bodies and the physical environment stop functioning in our favour – we have to toil and sweat to produce results.

Love blesses the giver much more than the receiver. Ignorance is why we think love depletes. Forgiveness is wisdom, unforgiveness is foolishness.

Jesus is Love personified, fully in alignment with the fundamental principle He designed into the universe and not more so than when He offered up His life for a people who not only failed to recognize Him but also hated Him. While He dwelt among us, He lived a life of Love, the life everyone created in God’s image was designed to live, a life that makes one heal the sick, create or multiply physical substance simply by speaking, rather than relying on glorified death traps in the name of “healthcare” and “industry.”

When Jesus said “love the Lord your God with all of your being and your neighbor as yourself,” (paraphrased) He was not making a religious rule, He was simply revealing the truth. He was stating how to thrive on a planet designed for love. When he said “love your enemies and pray for those who abuse you,” He was not trying to make us pious floor mats but beings through whom God’s power flow through. When we start choosing who to love, we stop the flow, to our own detriment.

The miracle designed into God’s creation is released when Love is at play and is reversed when Love is restrained. When Jesus (Love) returns to rule our planet, how come there will be instant peace, prosperity and an Eden-type environment on this same earth? And believers are joint-heirs with Him?

Whoever loves with full understanding, is invincible – visible and invisible things and beings including human beings intentionally or unintentionally, angels obediently, and demons unwittingly, serve you. The holiest and wisest motive, is Love.

  1. Love, indeed, is at the center of every operation in the universe. I loved what you wrote about roses and living things. There’s no existence outside love, it would be denying ourselves of “purpose.” God Himself is LOVE, and He has poured out of Himself into every single creation He designed. Now, I’m led to think about designs that we put forward ourselves…think about it, there’s no way your blog could have been designed this way if the very element of its design was not embedded in you in the first place. You translated what you wanted to the person who designed it, right from the header image to the articulation of the words on the side-bar. There’s the evidence of the spirit of excellence, and no one produces fruits for which they never bore the seeds. If the design made you dissatisfied, you might not have functioned at your best. That’s why we can only thrive on love, He who designed it made it that way.

    • @Lightherlamp – very true. Every design bears the imprint of the designer. We can only thrive on love because He who designed it all is Love and He designed it that way – we cannot change it. Your analogy of even a webpage design further simplifies this post, thank you.

    • I missed the profundity in these statements: “Love is at the center of every operation in the universe.” ‘There is no existence outside love…” Any attempt to exist outside love would have to be equivalent to a fish choosing to come out of water. That would be hell. The physical and spiritual environment cannot sustain anything inconsistent with love, love as defined by the creator, not the created. You blessed me. thank you.

  2.  It is interesting that God could not “love” us into heaven. It is also interesting that a God who loves…..also “hates”.

BTW….when Jesus comes back, (Revelation 19:13-16), notice that His garment is sprinkled with blood and that He is treading the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of God. The fury of His wrath at His second coming is in sharp contrast to His genleness at His first coming. It also states that He will rule them with a rod of iron.

    • I love your comment, because it introduces necessary caveats

God is Love, even when Jesus rules the nations with a rod of iron, even when people end up in hell. He never changes. Everything God does is Love motivated.

Love always seeks the benefit of another, never their hurt. God is unwilling that any perish because that will be contrary to His nature. He also does not send people to hell.

Eternal life is a gift of Love from God – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Heaven and hell are opposite sides of God’s love. Heaven is acceptance of God’s love while hell is rejection of God’s love. God has done his part and his part is Love. Where we end up depends on us.

Love does not mean acceptance of evil and sin. The fact that Jesus will rule with an iron rod speaks to the omnipotence of Love. We mostly have a societal view of Love as weak. Far from it. Love destroys, love kills as well as create and give life. We were designed for Love, as is our planet and the universe. Anyone opposed to Love cannot thrive on this planet or this universe. When we think Love, we should think God. Whatever God does is what Love does, including wiping out corruption and corrupt humans, like Noah’s flood and Sodom.

  3. Hi Tolu,  what a wonderful , powerful message with much Truth I have been blessed by reading it, I have written much about God’s Love, which when we ask for  we receive Jesus Christ opens the flood gates as we walk in Him but His Love  is very differant then man’s fleshy love which can be Saccharine sweet leaving a bitter after taste. I read some of the other comments and your answers Tolu, how very True God is Love and can do no evil, it is not His will anyone perishes by being separated from Him for eternity but He knows those who will and it grieves Him but He knows us His Children of the heart and we delight Him.  Christian Love from us both Anne.

    • Thank you Anne for allowing this to bless you. Man often attempts to layer wickedness with love, hence the immediate saccharine sweetness, which will inevitably be followed by the real nature – bitterness. God does not just love, He is Love. He created us in His image so we can be Love too and any deviation from that is corruption, wickedness.

Thank you for introducing the idea of grief. Most think God is looking for every opportunity to send people to hell when even the thought is so grievous to Him that He offered to go to hell on our behalf so we won’t have to go there. It grieves Him to see human beings choose to perish by rejecting Him. After His death and resurrection, whoever perishes having heard the truth, deserved it

    • Thank you for posting that beautiful poem, David. I am glad this is a universe created by and for Love.

Thank you for your rich, rich statement, “Love will have everything suitable to it eternally.” That is the truth. Love never fails, not because it is good but because God is Love and Love is invincible.
