Get down to work

Can we rely on it that a “turning around” will be accomplished by enough people quickly enough to save the modern world? This question is often asked, but no matter what the answer, it will mislead. The answer “Yes” would lead to complacency, the answer “No” to despair. It is desirable to leave these perplexities behind us and get down to work.

When I saw this statement by E. F. Schumacher today in his book titled A Guide for the Perplexed, I immediately thought of the challenges we face in Africa and how it will serve us right if we stopped analysing our challenges and just get down to work.

What if I fail? I think it is more glorious to fail pursuing noble objectives than to succeed chasing ignoble ends.

Tilt at the windmill and if you fail, you fail! Don’t be afraid. What matters is that you follow the quest.
