This morning, during my usual 30-minute jog, I came across this thought:
You are not my enemy, you are my brother or my sister. We have the same earthly parents, we have the same creator, if not the same heavenly father. You are not my enemy. I am glad you are not my enemy because if you were, I would live in fear of you. Your creator, my creator made you in his own likeness after his own image and He is Almighty. One of us who said you were “powerful beyond measure” is right – you were created in the image of our creator. I am glad you are not my enemy because you could wipe me out if you were – you are powerful beyond measure
Because you are not my enemy I am not afraid of you. In fact, I love you and I am in awe of you. Even if you come against me with loaded weapons, I am not afraid of you, because you are not my enemy. If you were my enemy, I would have reasons to fear you because you were not the one God Incarnate came to overcome, you are the one whose potential He came to uncap. If you were my enemy, I am in trouble. I am glad you are not my enemy. So I do not have to fear you, I can love you and I can be in awe of you. Even if you align yourself with my enemy, I will not fear you because you are not my enemy.
I will be compassionate towards you for allowing our enemy, who Jesus Christ came to conquer and who you have dominion over through Christ, to use you against us. I will not fear our enemy because Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, has stripped him of the power our first parent gave to him.
Our enemy is powerless against me so I am glad he is the one using you against me and not you coming against me yourself. I forgive you because I know you wouldn’t stoop so low, if you knew what you were doing. I love you and I continue to stand in awe of who you can be. You are not my enemy.
